When I was registering for my classes for Fall 2012 semester, I got really frustrated because I wanted to fit almost every class into one semester. I was constantly adding and dropping classes; I just couldn't make up my mind as to what I wanted to take first, a class the I am desperately desiring to take, or a prerequisite that I need to eventually take. Agh! You guys, I just love being an art major! I have so much to learn, and I'm ready to just soak all of it up! Sadly, I have to learn in increments of semesters rather than doing everything at once. Now the spring semester is all over and done with, and I am anticipating summer classes in a month. You may think me lame, but I just couldn't go a WHOLE three-and-a-half months without taking another class to learn new design applications and techniques. This semester was spent finishing up all of my foundation classes, so I spent much of my time experimenting with printing techniques and watercolor on my own. I...

Painting I did in 2009, "Church - Thomas Kinkade" I just love being an art major. I'm currently working on my portfolio for scholarships. I can honestly say that I feel really good about my work.  You know, I actually had no idea I had any talent at all until my sophomore year of high school. I had just moved to a new school, and my art teacher just handed me a paint brush and some paint. She said basically said, "do your thing."  Mrs Bryant was a big believer in "independent study" when it came to art. While I appreciate the guidance and critique my current art professors offer me, I am forever grateful for the lack of restrictions with lots, and lots of leeway, thus my first ever "real" painting was born! A rendition of Thomas Kinkade's I'll be home for Christmas .

illustration love.

(In order from left to right) 1. Mary Blair 2.Kelly Murray 3.Gyo Fujikawa 4.Eleanor Campbell   5. Norman Rockwell   6.Emily Winfield Martin As I continue this journey through art school, my appreciation for certain types of art has become more prominent. I'm an illustrator at heart. I love the flatness of Mary Blair's style, and the beautful colors on the cheeks of children at play of Eleanor Campbell and Norman Rockwell's illustrations. My favorite modern take it Kelly Murray and Emily Winfield Martin's vintage styles.

taking you along for the ride.

I'm going to bring you along on my adventure in the university art department for the next four years, if you want to follow, that is! :) Critique is welcome! The objective of this assignment was to use weight in the lines to indicate shadow.

college starts next week.

Pastel: The Elegant Elephant Charcoal: A Boy After a long wait, I finally got some copies of some old artwork from my art teacher I did when I was a junior. I want to just say THANK YOU! to all your sweet comments and support with my art. I never imagined my prints could be so popular.
